Compost Site

SOUTH ST PAUL COMPOST

The South St. Paul Compost Site will open to the public on Saturday, April 25th.  The Site will be open every Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm.  There will be no fee charged for disposal during the time of April 24th through May 31st.  The SSP Compost Site accepts leaf and garden waste only, and you are asked to take your lawn bags with you after emptying them. Tree or brush waste is not accepted at the SSP Compost Site.  You will need to dispose of tree and brush waste at another facility.  As a reminder the SSP Compost Site is open to Dakota County residents only.  

BEGINNING JUNE 5TH:  The site will begin charging $.50 per small bag and $1.00 for larger bags or barrels.  The site will be open Friday, Saturday and Sunday 9:00 am to 6:00 p.m.

THE COMPOST SITE IS CLOSED ON JULY 4TH.

Other option to dispose of leaves and garden waste is Gertens located at 5500 Blaine Avenue, Inver Grove Heights (651-450-1501) Or Gertens R.E.S. Facility located at 805 Yankee Doodle Road, Eagan.

The compost site may not open for the day or close early based upon the weather conditions.

South St. Paul Compost Site is located off of Hardman Avenue and Verderosa Avenue. (681 Verderosa Avenue).

DIRECTIONS

Coming from the west: 494 to Hardman, go north on Hardman Avenue to Verderosa. Take a right on Verderosa. Coming from the east: 494 to Hardman, go north on Hardman Avenue to Verderosa and take a right on Verderosa.

MATERIALS ACCEPTED: Leaves, grass, sod and garden waste

NO WOOD CHIPS OR MULCH IS ACCEPTED

BRUSH/TREE WASTE

The South St. Paul Compost Site does not accept any type of brush or tree waste.  

Davey Tree (former S & S Tree and Horticultural Specialists, Inc.) located at 405 Hardman Avenue South will accept brush and tree waste (no stumps) every Saturday from 8:00 AM to 12:00 noon.  A charge of $10.00 per load will be collected at time of disposal.  Payment will be accepted for the exact amount or with a check made out to Davey Tree.
