The South St. Paul Library has front entrance doors that open with the push of a button, including an elevator on the main level to access the upper levels and the basement.

Home Library Service

If you are disabled or otherwise unable to come to the library in person, please call us at 651-554-3240 for more information on applying. This service provides the delivery of materials by a library staff member or volunteer right to your door. Home Library Service Application  (PDF)

Services for the Hearing Impaired

Closed-captioned Videos on DVD

When used with a closed-caption decoder, these videos display dialogue and narration on the screen. They are listed in the library catalog, search video recordings for the hearing impaired as well as by title.

Services for the Visually Impaired

Audio Books

Audio books are available on CD, Playaway and other downloadable formats. They are listed in the catalog. Search audiobooks, as well as title and author.

In addition to books on CD, patrons have free access to RB Digital and EBSCO eAudiobooks, websites with more than 3,000 downloadable audio books, and Playaway audio books—bestselling current and classic titles preloaded to a portable media device available for check-out.

Described Videos

These videos include a verbal description of the setting and action. Descriptive Video Service (DVS) video titles are listed in the library catalog. Search video recordings for people with visual disabilities.

Large Print Materials

Materials in larger type face are available in fiction and nonfiction books and magazines. These are listed in the library catalog. Search large print books, as well as author and title.

Magnification Devices on Computers

Ease of Access software is loaded on all public Internet terminals.

Merlin Magnification Device

Need help viewing an image or small text? Merlin can help by adjusting image size, color and contrast for easier viewing. This machine is located on our lower level.
