Zero Waste Lunch

Zero Waste Lunch

It has been estimated that the average American produces about four pounds of trash per day. By eliminating single-use disposable items, and reducing packaging waste when we eat away from home, we can dramatically lessen that amount.

One tip is to invest in a sturdy lunch container with different compartments for food items. This eliminates the need to individually wrap each food item.

Swap out disposable drink pouches with a reusable water bottle filled with any beverage. Instead of individually packaged applesauce or fruit cups, buy a large jar of applesauce and portion into a small reusable container, or use fruit like bananas that don’t require additional packaging. Purchase a large block of cheese instead of individually packaged cheese sticks. There are many ways to eliminate waste during meal time.
