Event & Party Recycling

Festivals, parties, and events can create a lot of trash. Make a change at your next get-together by recycling. 

Recycling Requirements

Starting in 2021, event centers, community festivals, fairs, sporting events, and concerts will be required to recycle. Certain large events with food scraps will need to collect organics from non-public areas starting in 2024. Information about these changes can be found here

Event Recycling Help

Dakota County offers free resources for events to help meet the recycling and compost requirements. Free resources include:

Receptacles

  • Portable x-frame receptacles
    • Recycling: 75
    • Organics: 30
    • Trash 30 
  • Bags for each waste stream
  • Signs for each x-frame 

Signage 

  • Tall banners for waste stations with weights or stakes (10) 
  • Hanging banners for waste stations (6)
  • Table top tents
  • Vendor window signs 
  • Labels for permanent containers 

Staff

  • Intern to help plan and day-of help
  • Volunteer network for day-of help
