Sports
Looking to participate in youth sports this summer? Youth sports give the opportunity to participate in a team structure. Playing sports can help the youth develop individual characteristics such as confidence, self-esteem, independence, assertiveness, and conflict resolution. They can also learn values of a team including sportsmanship, teamwork, competition, respect, leadership, rule following, and much more. Most importantly, it provides youth with the opportunity to be outside, make friends, and have fun!
T-Ball - June/July
This is an introductory program to teach the fundamentals of throwing, catching, batting, and fielding skills to youth. T-ball is designed to be a recreational and fun program for players that strengths coordination, social skills, and teamwork in an easygoing environment.
We will need parents that are willing to volunteer their time to coach t-ballers to make this program successful! Signing up is easy and volunteering is gratifying! Coaching applications area available at City Hall or email ctrudgeon@southstpaul.org.
Sand Volleyball Skills Camp - July
Our volleyball staff will assist each athlete with developing their fundamental passing, setting, hitting, and serving skills. Each day athletes will grow through game-based drills, daily scrimmages, and fun volleyball, activities.
Football - August/September
We offer 3 different levels of youth football. Flag football for grades 1-2, TackleBar football for grades 3-4, and Tackle for grades 5-6. Our football program consists of a three-day skills camp led by South St. Paul Varsity head coach, Manuel Spreigl and his staff. Teams will then be made and there will be a 6-game season in each league. The season is wrapped up with a Jamboree in late September.
